Low-Spoiler Rule
Baldur’s Gate 3 endings are not decided only in the final scene. They come from companion quests, faction choices, key NPCs, personal goals, and final-state conditions. The best low-spoiler approach is to run a cleanup check before each act transition.
Before Leaving Act 1
- Have you recruited or deliberately skipped core companions?
- Are the grove, goblin camp, swamp, Underdark, and mountain route states where you want them?
- Have you checked important merchants?
- Do companions have new camp dialogue?
- Is your main build reaching its key level 5 shape?
- Are there hidden entrances or underground routes you still want to inspect?
Before Leaving Act 2
Act 2 has more direct impact on Act 3 and ending state. When the game warns that the world state may change, stop and check first.
| Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Companion personal quests | Some choices can affect later attitudes and endings |
| Regional main route | Progress can change NPC and area states |
| Key gear | Midgame gear can carry the party into Act 3 |
| Camp events | Long rests may trigger important scenes |
| Side NPCs | Some characters continue into Act 3 |
Before The Act 3 Finale
Act 3 is dense enough that the finale should be treated as its own stage rather than something to rush into as soon as the objective appears.
- Are companion personal quests where you want them?
- Is the final party build and gear set complete?
- Have you checked key city merchants, side quests, and NPCs?
- Are the player’s, companions’, and major factions’ positions clear?
- Are you ready to accept the outcome of the current choices?
Handling Choice Anxiety
The point of Baldur’s Gate 3 is that choices leave marks. A first run does not need a “perfect” ending, but you can avoid regrets caused by ignoring the journal, skipping camp scenes, or missing companion quest updates.
Useful routine:
- Return to camp before each act transition.
- Long rest to trigger scenes.
- Review companion quest journal entries.
- Check important inventory items.
- Then continue through major warning prompts.
